The on set adventures of San Diego’s top rated newsman continue in Anchorman 2. As of July 2012, Anchorman 2 is being planned for a late 2013 release. Steve Carrell said Anchorman 2 would start filming in February or March 2013. Given the limited post-production work likely needed for the highly anticipated comedy sequel, a late August 2013 release is certainly possible. Otherwise, a November 2013 or summer 2014 release will likely be in the cards. Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd will also join Steve Carrell in the highly anticipated sequel. The movie will be directed by Adam McKay and distributed by Studio Paramount Pictures, which now controls the rights to the franchise. The casting directors are going to be holding castings and auditions very soon and this is your opportunity to be a extra or supporting role in the comedy film.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is going to be centered around the next big change in news, after having females at the anchor desk. The next big event in the news was the cable news networks, the advent of 24-hour news. The film takes place when all the news started changing with the 24-hours news cycle in ’78 or ’79…All of a sudden, local news stations diversified and had Latino and African-American anchors, and any time you’re talking about diversity and the Action News team, that’s always fun to deal with. This big change becomes a problem for Burgundy and his crew, and he must do anything and everything to keep his job.
