Billy Bob Thorton has been confirmed for the making of Bad Santa 2. The remake of the 2003 Christmas comedy will be produced by Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine, Accepted) and will see Billy Bob Thornton reprising his role as a boozy conman who dresses up as Father Christmas. Producers on the movie and Dimension Films, which is developing a follow-up to the beloved 2003 black comedy with the newly constituted Miramax, have quietly hired writers to begin working on a new film for Thornton to star in. Castings for the film have not yet started but the casting directors are now taking applications for several roles in the movie. This is a great opportunity for anyone that is looking to break in the industry.
Centering on a dysfunctional, thieving mall Santa named Stokes and his dwarf sidekick/accomplice, “Bad Santa” became a sideways Hollywood classic as it followed the pair on their misadventures. Bad Santa made for about $23 million and earned $76.5 million at the worldwide box office. The companies are engaging in the unusual move of commissioning two different writers, with the idea of choosing between the scripts or even using one script for “Bad Santa 2” and the other script for a third film. Bad Santa 2 is set to release in the summer of 2013 and the casting directors are now taking applications for extras and other roles in the film.
If you are interested in applying please submit your application along with a photo and resume. Keep checking back often for more information on casting dates and times and as always leave us a comment on if you think Bad Santa 2 will surpass the original in ratings.
