Hair Modeling Tips and Casting

Hair show modeling is defiantly a great place to start if you are new to this industry.  Hair shows are quite common and great way to gather some experience.  They typically operate similarly to runway fashion shows with the obvious exception that the focus is specifically on the hair and not so much on the clothing.  While the shows themselves will vary in size the aim is to allow the stylist to show off their skills and best hairdos, therefor healthy hair is a must.  While the best hair models typically have long hair, which gives the stylist the most to work with, having shorter hair doesn’t necessarily count you out and of course all hair styles are welcome (i.e. curly, straight, thick, etc.).  If you are new to the industry this is a great way to practice your walk, while you making it, or not, won’t usually depend on this.  Hair shows don’t always provide financial compensation, however there is another form of payment.  You will have your cut, styled, and colored by a professional which often amounts in hundreds of dollars’ worth of service.   But, keep in mind that you won’t have much input on what the stylist wants to do with your ‘do.  As always keep in mind to maintain a positive attitude and best of luck!

And now for the casting…

  1. Margaret is my daughter and we have been trying to find some modeling opportunities but they all want 18 years old and older or 13 – 16. Could you please give me some places to look to get some opportunities. She did a shoot for hair and Indian wedding gowns. I have not yet received the photos yet.
    Thank you,
