Movie Director Spike Lee has taken on a adventure to give his take on the revenge thriller Oldboy and he has so far recruited his long time friend Samuel L. Jackson. Rummors have been circling that Jackson and musician Bruce Hornsby both have been linked to Lee’s English-language remake of Chan-wook Park’s Oldboy. The movie will be shooting in New York and Louisiana and will begin right after Jackson finishes his role in the new Robocop movie. Chan-wook’s “Oldboy” was released in 2003 and has won numerous awards in the past 10 years. Shooting for the movie will start in the fall and the casting directors are on a search to find extras and day roles for the new film and this would be a great opportunity for anyone looking to break into the acting industry.
An anonymous source would not give any detail on Jacksons’ involvement in the remake of Oldboy, though the Times elaborates that Jackson would play a villain who is brutally tortured by Josh Brolin’s character – a man who was captured by mysterious adversaries for years with no explanation. He soon finds out after hie escape that his kidnapper has even more torturous plans for him. Considering how Jackson always plays a tough gu, it’ll be just bizarre to see him in a position where he is so weak. The movie has yet to have a start date but as soon as we get more info we will let you know. The casting directors are now looking for extras and day roles for the movie. If you would like to audition please submit an application along with a head shot and resume and we will let you know the casting dates and times as soon as more information about Oldboy is released.
